This week on the blog I am speaking about how I stay true to myself despite all the noise. Following your purpose is not always the easiest path but I have to say it feels good to share what I’ve been experiencing recently.
When I began to walk my own path and come in alignment with my purpose I was taking in so much information from others who were on a similar path to me and were trying to be helpful and guide me. Over a period of time though I have released that yes, it’s extremely helpful to have teachers and mentors to guide us, there actually comes a point where we have to stand up and do what feels right for ourselves. Even if that means not following the ‘typical’ path.
Many people questioned me about my book when I was releasing it. They asked, would it be in Kindle format? I knew that I would disappoint people by saying no, but honestly that option did not resonate with me. I personally prefer to preserve the art of reading and so I released my book as a physical book only. Despite what others said it has done well.
When you are operating from a place of authenticity people can feel that energy and it will draw them in. We talk a lot about authenticity these days but I rarely see people living from that space 100% of the time. Don’t allow your standards to be weakened because the world has an idea of how things should be done.
It can be easy to get caught up in the noise and the idea of how something should be done, because that’s what other people do. But I want you to know, whatever you want to do can be done YOUR way. Staying true to yourself is the biggest act of self-belief and when we send a message like that out, the universe responds.
Social Media Realisations
I have noticed that in the last few months I have gotten a little caught up in the Instagram social media craze and it doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t feel true.
Yes I am guilty. I’ve been posting images of my breakfast... only to inspire others to eat vegan and healthy but I’ve come to the realisation that this is not why I started my account.
If you have read my book you will know I do not advocate mobile phones or technology.
So why on earth would I be choosing to post so much!?
Well the intent has been to inspire and I thought the more I posted, the more people would be inspired. But lately this has just not been feeling right. It doesn’t align with my core beliefs.
So I will continue to use Instagram but in my way.
It’s easy to get lost in this world. But the important message is, just because everyone else is doing it does not mean you have to. Even if you feel you may not reach as many people as you previously were. They will come.
We have to trust that staying true to ourselves is the quickest path to our purpose.
As I said it feels good to get this off of my chest and share with you.
What are your views on social media? How do you like to use it to spread your message? Do you have a similar experience or story?
Let me know!
With love & gratitude,
