I tend to find when I complete a challenge where something is being taken away. I find it pretty easy to do. But I must admit seeing other people drink tea really hurt. My favourite pass time was no more.
I of course, opted for herbal non-caffeinated teas but still it was not quite the same feeling. There is something special about a cup of English Breakfast tea that I just love so.
In the first week I really noticed that I had a few withdrawal headaches, where I really just needed to get an early night and sleep it off. This was my body's signal that a detox was taking place. A similar thing happened when I quit sugar.
These detox symptoms only lasted around a week. And then a beautiful thing happened, I began to wake up BEFORE my alarm. I could only put it down to the fact that I had quit caffeine, there was not other explanation.
Once I was in the routine of not drinking tea and opting for alternatives I was fine without it and felt that I would stick to this even after my challenge had ended.
In actual fact I have had the odd cup of tea here and there since the challenge ended and I noticed that I felt my heart racing and then experiencing a headache the very next day so I have decided that going forward I will only drink de-caffeinated if I really want to take part in the ladies English Breakfast tea parties. This way I still get to enjoy my tea but without any of the caffeine and strange side effects.
I would truly recommend this challenge, if you only try it to see if you can wake up before your alarm too!
Thank you for reading and supporting my journey of inner growth!
With love & gratitude.
