Month EIGHT, almost hitting the three-quarter mark! This month's challenge is something I have been putting off for quite a few months now. I am quitting caffeine. Ouch. I can already feel the withdrawal symptoms...
I used to drink around 7 or 8 cups of tea a day - English Breakfast Tea, my one true love. Over the course of the past couple of years, I have managed to get that number down to about 3 per day. Nevertheless, I know that caffeine is bad for me, and I wanted to find a way to stop this bad habit. Taking on a challenge for a month seems to be the best way for me to implement something and gain long term benefits.
Why quit caffeine?
Firstly, it's addictive! I have not been able to go a day without tea, for at least the last 10 years. I really care about what I consume, and would rather not be reliant upon a substance or have an addiction. I want out.
Secondly, it is said to bring about a range of health benefits. The one I was most interested in was better sleep, and less sluggishness in the morning. Who doesn't want to wake up bright, shiny and well rested? Also it has been said that caffeine causes: headaches, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue. Like with most things, and especially the Sugar Free challenge I embarked upon; I am expecting a little withdrawal period. Hopefully it won't be as bad as sugar, but I am keen to see if my headaches are related to caffeine in anyway.
Thank you for reading and supporting my journey of inner growth!
With love & gratitude.
