The time seems to pass me by faster than ever these days. Welcome to month 5 where I will discover the value of Kirtan Kriya, a guided Kundalini Yoga meditation.
This months challenge was recommended to me by a close friend and yogi. I am really excited that others are proposing ideas for my challenges, I believe that this will help me to truly grow. Please contact me if you would like to make a suggestion.
I have been practicing yoga for quite some time now but I have never really experimented with meditation. I have always been curious as I have heard all about the positive benefits of taking charge of the monkey mind. The closest I have gotten to meditating was when I trialed the Headspace app.
Kirtan Kriya is a guided Kundalini meditation which was developed by Yogi Bhajan. In Sanskrit, kirtan means divine song and kriya means actions. The meditation will take 12 minutes and will involve chanting the mantra; Saa Taa Naa Maa coupled with specific finger movements and focus.
The Kundalini Research Institute says, 'This meditation brings a total mental balance to the individual psyche. Practicing this meditation is both a science and an art. It is an art in the way it molds consciousness and in the refinement of sensation and insight it produces. It is a science in the tested certainty of the results each technique produces.'
It is typically recommended to do this practice for 40 days so I will have a slightly extended challenge this month.
Thank you for reading and supporting my journey of inner growth!
With love & gratitude.
