It's official, challenge number 12 is now complete!
I am FREE!
I must say after a full year of committing to a new challenge each month, it feels nice to relax. I love self-growth, so don't worry my desire to change and grow will not stop, but it does feel nice to have some space to relax into my growth :-)
The big question, did I complete the YouTube Challenge? I would answer yes! I successfully posted 21 videos out of a possible 31. The reason I missed a few days was due to the winter cold I picked up on day 22. But I managed to get it together in order to post on the final day 31 to close the year out!
I feel accomplished and excited that I finished this challenge. I had been a little anxious about putting myself out there and being vulnerable. But once I took action and began, it became easier with every step.
So what did I learn?
1. Making friends with the camera is easy.
After about day 6 or 7 I felt my body relax into the process. The more practice I had the less nervous I felt and the easier it became to speak to the camera. If you are nervous then allow yourself a few trial runs before you post anything live. If you still don't feel ready commit to filming every day for a week, by the end of the week you will feel confident enough to begin. Practice makes perfect!
2. It's fun - especially when you feel inspired!
I actually enjoyed filming, and when inspiration hit that was the moment to film, in order to capture my passion and excitement for the topic. It never felt like a chore or hard work, it really was fun for me which is why I plan to keep my channel going-forward but I will post once a week now instead.
3. Connecting with a greater audience.
YouTube provides a platform to connect with a greater audience. If you are like me and feel you have a message to spread then YouTube is your best way of being heard.
4. Speaking skills improved.
Day 1 nerves and a lack of camera knowledge meant my first video wasn't as 'perfect' as I'd liked. But when looking back over my month-long journey it allowed me to see how much I had grown. My speaking skills became stronger and I became more confident.
Overall this was a great challenge to promote growth and try something new. I would recommend this challenge to anyone wishing to start a channel. It gives you the freedom to begin a journey and grow into the channel, as opposed to the expectation that you will be 'perfect' from day 1. And remember, you can always delete the video if you don't like it!
Thank you for reading and supporting my journey of inner growth!
With love & gratitude.
